What is reiki and how can it benefit you?

If you’ve not heard of reiki before, it’s a form of healing therapy.

Reiki was acknowledged in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui. A reiki practitioner will use light touch to change and balance the energy fields in and around your body. It’s known as spiritually guided life force energy. This energy flows in the universe and is protective, powerful and positive. It’s uses are limitless!

It allows positive energy to flow through the soul. This taps into the core issues of the mind and body.

What does reiki do?

  • Relieves psychological problems such as trauma or stress
  • Helps reduce physical pain and can even cure illnesses
  • Makes you feel relaxed or sleepy
  • Improves overall wellbeing
  • Causes a heat sensation

How does reiki work?

It simply needs a “healer” and “receiver” and a pair of hands. In my view, anyone can be a healer if they open themselves up to reiki, although being attuned by a reiki master opens us up to the energy

Intention is a huge part. The more willing you are to heal, the more receptive you will be to the healing.

Reiki is a completely harmless, natural form of healing.

‘Healing energy? What a load of hocus pocus!’ You might say. Don’t speak too soon…

In a world where prescription drugs are given out like sweets and there’s a pill for anything, it can be hard to get your head around reiki. We’re told that drugs are the only thing that can work.

I agree that modern medicine is extremely clever and advanced. However, medication isn’t always reliable and can cause awful side effects. We often don’t know what we’re putting into our bodies and could be doing more damage than good!

What if you could heal yourself in a more natural way without relying on drugs all the time?

Whether you’re sick of popping paracetamol for those aches and pains, being ‘dumbed down’ by pills for mental illness, or struggling to cope with the stresses of daily life. Reiki is worth a shot!

So, how do you go about getting reiki?

Search online for reiki healers in your area or simply ask around. It might be that you go through a few healers before finding the right one. You often get a feeling about whether a healer is connecting with you. Although, don’t just give up after the first try. It can take a few times before you adjust and open yourself to the healing.

The best way to benefit from reiki is to let go of your existing preconceptions about modern medicine, science or facts and enter into it with an open mind.

I’m blessed to know a reiki master, who attuned me to receive reiki in order to heal others and myself. It truly changed my life. I regained control over my mind and body and I’m a more positive, compassionate person for it.

Sceptics might say it is purely in the mind or a placebo effect. Fair enough. But it still works! People have had miraculous transformations after reiki.

I’m not suggesting that you go cold turkey and cut out medication completely. That could be dangerous and harmful to your health. However, if you find the drugs are not doing it for you or are struggling with the side effects, it could be time to ditch them. Reiki can also be used as a complimentary therapy alongside medical treatment. It’s about what works for you!
